Chicken Soup and a Shot of Jack is everything it professes to be. There is a wide range of emotions masterfully expressed in each story and poem, each of them giving a glimpse into the author’s many life experiences. Not only is there a variety of emotions expressed, but the writing style itself shows great diversity – some poetry seeming to contain hidden meaning that would take hours of discussion and analysis to understand, and other stories written just like a frank conversation.
More than anything while reading the book, I found myself reflecting on my own life, as well as the lives of the people around me who I take for granted. The cliché description of “thought-provoking” is completely accurate when describing Chicken Soup and a Shot of Jack. The layout of the book draws you in, alternating between short stories and poems, so that you want to continue on and read just one more until without even realizing it you have finished the entire collection.
Well worth your time and money. Highly recommend.

Molten Fire and Ash is a collection of intense poems. Divided into 3 sequences, Heat, Fuel and Oxygen this work remarkably summons themes on self-reflection, fatherhood, politics, mental health, and family values.
I really enjoyed this poetry collection and I think especially in current times it is extremely important that we read books like this one. The poems are short but powerful and the author is able to make you feel things in just a few sentences. I have not read any other book by this author but after reading this one I was left wanting to read everything he ever publishes.
